Greetings everyone! It has been a wonderful season again. Although the early cool weather pushed the season a bit later, it has been a great season none-the-less. The berries have been every bit as sweet, juicy, and tasty as you would expect from Red Cedar Valley Farms.

Unfortunately all good things must end, and such is the case with our season this year. Our U-pick is now closed for 2011. However, we will continue to provide pre-picked berries at the field and a limited number of sites through the end of the week. That's right, the 2011 season has officially started. The berries are wonderful, showing no negative effects from the rain. They are just as sweet and juicy as ever. Stop by and get your berries so you can enjoy this tasty summer treat!

Welcome strawberry lovers! If that describes you, then you've come to the right place! I am pleased to announce the opening of the 2011 season! Weather permitting, of course, we will be opening up our u-pick operation and providing pre-picked pails starting Thursday, June 23.

With juicy, sweet strawberries just beginning to ripen, I can assure you that we should have a great crop this year. Remember, however, the season usually only lasts about 3 weeks, so don't procrastinate. Enjoy the fresh strawberries while they last!

2011 Pre-season Update

The strawberries continue to ripen slowly in this cool weather. However, the crop is looking plentiful and succulent as we start to see the green and white berries changing to hues of orange and hints of red. We are still unable to nail down a specific starting date, but we hope to start picking some time next week.

It's 2011!

Greetings one and all! 2011 is finally here, and strawberry season is just around the corner. However, due to the cold weather, strawberry season will be a bit later than usual. The blossoms are looking plentiful, and the green berries are appearing, but we expect it to be a couple of weeks before the season starts.

Check back around the 15th of June and we can hopefully have a more precise starting date. In the mean time, make sure you clear out your freezers and buy your fruit pectin to prepare for another marvelous season to enjoy some sweet, succulent strawberries!

As we finish up our last few days, we have closed Pick-your-own for the season, and will only be providing the Pre-picked pails at the field, and at some of our satellite sales sites. Welcome 2010

Greetings to one and all! 2010 is here, and we are excited to give you our first season update!

We had a great winter, and now our plants are busily preparing our upcoming season's luscious fruit. It is still to early to set a date, but we are targeting around the 10th-16th for a start date, weather dependent of course.

Keep Checking back as the beginning of June approaches, and we will keep you updated. Looking forward to seeing you this summer!

Cold mornings!

Yes, it has finally warmed up, but just a few days ago, we had some very cold mornings where we were hard at work sprinkling the blossoms to protect them from the frost. Thankfully the hard work payed off, and although the plants ended up coated with ice, the delicate blossoms and developing fruit were protected. Here are some pictures we took of the plants covered in ice.

Despite our best laid plans, the rain has postponed the opening date for our pre-picked pails until Friday, June 19th. U-pick will still be open, so come on down to pick your own!Again for U-pick our hours run 6:30AM-7:00PM. Looking forward to seeing you out there!

Greeings, one and all. Our first day of picking for the 2009 season will be Thursday, June 18th. I have already had the chance to sample a few of the earliest fruits, and they sure are good! We look forward to seeing you either out at the field or at one of the sites to snatch up some of these first fruits.

U-pick will open bright and early at 6:30 AM and will be open until 7:00 PM, Mon-Sat. and Sunday 12:00 PM-5:00PM

Pre-season update!

Greetings! We are eagerly waiting for the season to begin. Of course the season is still weather dependent, but we should be starting shortly. Check back after the 16th for more up-to-date info, and possibly a starting date!

As the calendar turns from May to June, I am sure your mind turns to your favorite summer fruit, just like ours does, STRAWBERRIES!

Yes, the season is drawing nearer. However, we still aren't quite seeing these juicy red fruits just yet. We have some days to wait.

Currently we are waiting for the promising white blossoms and pearly berries (as seen below) to turn into the crimson berries we love so well.

The plentiful blossoms bode well for another fantastic season, so you can start clearing your freezer and dusting off your canning jars, as we eye a start date sometime in mid-June.

Happy 2009 to you all!

Yes, it is spring! Winter tried to hang on, but spring is here again!

The strawberries are all uncovered and the rows have now turned a lush green. Just the other day we even saw our first blossoms of the year! We are eagerly looking for wonderful warm spring days, and hopefully some warm nights as well to make those berries jump!

It's planting season!

It's an exciting time of year. We've been raking the straw off the berry plants and just today we started planting new fields. Here's a slide show of the planting process.

The snow is melting from the fertile fields of Wisconsin and strawberries are already on our minds. Straw has been removed and soon we'll be planting new seedlings. Please check back for updates as the picking season approaches.
